Q Dorothea Lange, one of the most prolific photographers employed by the Farm Security Administration, produced thousands of images depicting a cross-section of Americans. Lange showed Americans the real face on poverty in their country. I think that the above photo of The White Angel Breadline best describes the effect of depression on America families. This is because the faces of the men in the picture are depressing. There is a an appearance of human expressions and emotions depicting helplessness and misery. The empty vessel between the hands of the man in the front angle of the picture signifies emptiness in the lives of the American during that time. However, there had been hope because of the presence of the white angel named Mrs. Lois Jordan (https://www.artgallery.nsw.gov.au/collection/works/81.2003/).
